Not Just A Flour Miller

Allied Mills Australia has been successful in tendering for the supply of a range of bakery mixes to both Coles and Woolworths from 1 January 2008. These bakery mixes produced by Allied Mills are used in the production of in-store manufactured bread and cakes by these two icon Australian Retailers.
Managing Director, Joe Di Leo said “Allied Mills is the leading Australian flour milling and mixing business, producing and supplying a full range of flour based products to a national customer base. The direct relationship between Allied Mills and the two major supermarket chains in Australia will see us continue to position ourselves as a global bakery innovator in FMCG”.

Allied Mills is privately owned via a joint venture between Graincorp Ltd and Cargill Australia.

Mr Di Leo also said “Our Shareholders are always looking for opportunities to consolidate Allied Mills’ position in the Australian grains, flour and pre-mix market and these two relationships will confirm us as a market leader”. The direct entry into the retail supermarket business will also allow Allied Mills to actively pursue new technology and further expand our infrastructure to produce and supply a full range of innovative products direct to Coles and Woolworths. The technology agreement that Allied Mills holds with its international shareholder, Cargill, will assist in providing global market inspiration as well ”.

Woolworths and Coles both have significant investments and commitment in their In-Store Bakery business and this represents a key part of their customer value offer. An innovative range of high quality, freshly baked goods, representing good value for money, is a primary business focus and Allied Mills is committed to working closely with these key business partners to drive continued growth in this market.

With the completion of the state of the art, $90 million Greenfield milling site at Picton, NSW in 2008, Allied Mills has a great opportunity to continue to broaden its capacity and range within the retail sector in the future.
